Good Reads Wednesday

by Jeff Miller of Artisan Family of Wines (Seven Artisans, Sly Dog Cellars, Red Côte Rosé)

jeff-smEvery Wednesday I post my recommendations of the best of last week’s postings concerning wine, whether blogs or news. I list them in the order I read them, so you shouldn’t infer anything about the order in which I list these posts.

Fermentation, Tom Wark

Tom’s trying again to kick the smoking habit. I can still remember my father, a two pack a day smoker, giving it up, and how hard it was. I also remember my uncle dying of lung cancer, something I wouldn’t wish on my worst enemy. So I wish Tom the best.

Top Ten Things I’ve Learned at the European Wine Bloggers Conference

Jo’s discussion of the conference is interesting, but even more interesting is her discussion of blogging in general, and wine blogging in particular, and trying to look into the future to see how this whole phenomenon could play out.

The Mystery of Marketing

The Pour, Eric Asimov

Asimov looks at one of the more curious wine marketing efforts, aimed at the fighting varietal market. I, personally, would give almost anything if I could figure out what makes for good wine marketing.
